SHAH ALAM, 16 Mei (Bernama) - Walaupun teras utama bagi pembangunan ekonomi di Selangor secara umumnya diterajui oleh sektor pelaburan, perindustrian dan pembuatan, pembangunan industri pelancongan adalah sama penting.

Selain itu program inap desa luar bandar, hutan rekreasi, agro-pelancongan dan tempat-tempat bersejarah, Selangor juga merupakan tuan rumah untuk beberapa diiktiraf di peringkat antarabangsa acara sukan yang melampau.

Majlis Tindakan Pelancongan Selangor (MTPS) telah dimasukkan ke tiga acara itu dalam kalendar pelancongan negeri bagi tahun 2008.

MTPS Pengurus Acara Arshad Mustapa memberitahu Bernama, ini dianjurkan setiap tahun dan telah mendapat pelbagai berikut antara tempatan dan juga peserta asing.

"Peristiwa-peristiwa menarik ramai peserta antarabangsa dan telah berkembang menjadi tarikan pelancong di negeri ini," katanya.

Kejayaan dan seterusnya, perhatian antarabangsa yang dihasilkan oleh tuan rumah acara itu, adalah dorongan yang membawa MTPS memasukkan mereka di negeri-negeri kalendar pelancongan tahunan, kata Arshad.

Selain Antarabangsa Jugra Paragliding Selangor Open diadakan dari 1-04 MEI di Bukit Jugra di Kuala Langat baru-baru ini, Selangor juga akan menjadi tuan rumah Bukit Kubu Cabaran Eko Antarabangsa dan Bon Odori Karnival.

Berikutan menggalakkan penyertaan pada tahun-tahun lepas paragliding persaingan, Selangor memutuskan untuk mempunyai acara sekali lagi tahun ini.

"Ia adalah tahun ketiga berturut-turut yang kita telah menjadi tuan rumah pertandingan," kata Arshad.

Walaupun paragliding memerlukan sedikit saksama pelaburan pendahuluan, ia semakin popular dengan peminat sukan lasak di sini, katanya.

Eco Challenge Extreme, akan menampilkan Eco-X-Capade dan Eco-X-Sprint acara.

Eco-X-Capade memerlukan pasukan tiga kaum tanpa henti antara enam hingga lapan jam, manakala Eco-X-Sprint adalah perlumbaan individu yang akan mengambil masa kira-kira empat hingga enam jam untuk disiapkan. Kedua-duanya adalah di tengah-tengah kehijauan alam semula jadi, untuk menghadapi cabaran yang disampaikan oleh hutan.

Yang akan diadakan di Ulu Pangsun, Hulu Langat, pada 17 dan 18 Mei, Eco Challenge Extreme menggabungkan aktiviti seperti mendaki ngarai dan abseiling, skating inline, merentas hutan, kerja tali dan berakit buluh.

"Para peserta akan diuji ke atas keupayaan mereka untuk stratergise, kekuatan mental dan semangat setiakawan," kata Arshad.

"Ada 120 peserta, kedua-dua tempatan dan juga dari negara-negara jiran seperti Singapura, Thailand dan Filipina dijangka mengambil bahagian dalam acara itu," katanya.

Bon Odori Jepun berasaskan karnival akan diadakan pada 19 Julai, di Kompleks Sukan Matsushita di Seksyen 24, Shah Alam. Ini merupakan tahun kelima berturut-turut acara ini dianjurkan oleh kerajaan.

Menurut Arshad, Bon Odori karnival berfungsi sebagai platform bagi rakyat Jepun yang tinggal di Lembah Klang untuk mempamerkan budaya, tarian tradisional dan hidangan mereka.

Pada masa lalu, perayaan berjaya menarik kira-kira 25,000 pengunjung yang terdiri daripada kedua-dua ekspatriat Jepun dan juga rakyat Malaysia, kata Arshad.

Bagi menggalakkan pelancongan di Selangor, MTPS berusaha untuk mengekalkan dan meningkatkan status produk pelancongan sedia ada, menambah Arshad.

"Ia adalah penting bahawa produk-produk pelancongan yang terdapat di negeri ini dikekalkan dan dipertingkatkan secara berterusan, untuk disesuaikan dengan jangkaan pelancong di sini," kata Arshad.

Antara tempat-tempat pelancongan yang akan dipertingkatkan ialah Batu Caves, Firefly Park di Kampung Kuantan dan pelbagai program homestay di seluruh negeri.

"Memandangkan bagaimana pelancongan penting adalah untuk negeri Selangor, tempat letak kereta dan kemudahan awam seperti tandas akan disediakan di lokasi-lokasi pelancongan dan tahap kebersihan sentiasa dipantau," katanya.

Arshad mendedahkan bahawa pada awal tahun 2007, MTPS telah bekerjasama dengan Tenaga Nasional dalam membina chalet di Kuala Selangor, bagi memenuhi keperluan pengunjung yang ingin bermalam bagi menyaksikan kelip-kelip di Firefly Park di Taman Kuantan.

Di samping itu, MTPS bercadang untuk mempromosikan Program Homestay Selangor di peringkat antarabangsa melalui pejabat-pejabat Tourism Malaysia di luar negara.

"Dengan promosi yang betul, produk ini mempunyai potensi yang cerah," katanya.

Pada masa ini, Banghuris, Sepang, Kampung Haji Dorani, Sabak Bernam dan Air Manis adalah antara 17 lokasi yang menyertai Program Homestay Selangor.
